Here are our (7) eco cleaning tips, to clean your home quickly and chemical free, so you can get back to what matters, like time with your family, friends or favorite pet!
.) As you move from room to room, a cleaning apron, bucket, or organizer can help as a carryall. If you want to take this to the extreme use a tool box to organize your cleaning tools and supplies.
.) One word to live by when cleaning. Vinegar. We recommend using white vinegar, as it is made up of acetic acid and makes a fantastic natural disinfectant and streak free cleaner! A note on vinegar, lab tests indicate that vinegar can tackle household bacteria such as E. coli, Salmonella and other “gram-negative” bacteria. Cool huh? Don't forget, vinegar can be combined with baking soda to remove residue, even un-clog pipes!!
.) Consider employing some plant power in your cleaning arsenal. Many essential oils such as lemon, tea tree, rosemary, wild orange, lavender, eucalyptus, peppermint and cinnamon leaf are both antibacterial and all-natural. Quick disclaimer, essential oils are highly concentrated and should be used with care, they deserve your respect when employing them in a household cleaning routine; use gloves if desired.
.) Use good tools, just as you wouldn't use scissors to cut your lawn, high quality cleaning products will help you save time cleaning your home. Likewise, good tools such as thick rubber gloves, vinegar, essential oils, a window squeegee, eco cloths, a copper scrub and more are critical for a clean home!
.) Kids toys in the dishwasher with vinegar, trust us. This will save you a lot of time, be sure that the toys can take the hot water, steam and vinegar before loading them in the dishwasher. We find that action toys, matchbox cars work well with this method.
.) Lint rollers for dusty lamp shades, wet pumice stones for pet fur on furniture.
.) Hang dry or use wool dryer balls with your laundry. If you have the time and it's warm out, try naturally drying your clothes on a clothes line, this will save electricity or gas and thus your impact on the environment. Short on time? Wool dryer balls will drastically reduce your dry time and eliminate the need for chemical dryer sheets. Win, win.
.) A bonus tip, add some greenery to your home, houseplants act as living air filters. English Ivy, Spider Plants and Peace Liles are some of the best options for cleaning the air in your home. We reccomend using about 3-5 per room.
